Fireplace
approx. 15x5x8" / Spring 2025 / SOLD
Gray stoneware, underglaze, screen printed monotypes on mulberry paper, mp3 player, leaves.
A cracked ceramic radio glows from within. Burnt leaves twist from the embers inside, resembling antenna. An mp3 player hidden from within plays a recording of a crackling campfire, echoing against the stone walls like static.
Framing an illustration of a burning city skyline on the front of the radio, an inscription reads, "SING OUT TO ME AGAIN / WHILE TREES STILL GROW".
The back of the radio reveals a relief print embedded in the clay, depicting three musicians emerging from a collapsing metropolis.
An inscription framing the back of the radio reads, "GOD GET US OUT OF HERE / O ENDLESS GRID O TITANIC $$$ / HEAVING OUR OWN PLASTIC ASHES WE BURN / EVERYTHING WE NEED WE HAVE / EVERYTHING WE HAVE WE SQUANDER".
