Heavy Weight / Bulletproof Vest

Child's size nine, 6x14x18" / Spring 2023 / NFS

Upcycled army green jacket, high-fired porcelain tile, duct tape, friendship bracelets, block prints, embroidery, pipe cleaner chainmail, crayola marker, godseyes, trinkets, & tears.

Patchwork vest for trans children, made collabortaively with friends and loved ones. A handful of the crafts sewed onto the vest were made during childhood in fundamentalist Christian summer camp.

The inside of the vest is lined with layers of high-fired porcelain, thick walls of prayers on printer paper, and duct tape, tightly wrapped together to create heavy makeshift bulletproof armor.
